17 Sep 2002 - White Teeth - Channel 4 (UK)
"As hyped as the Zadie Smith
debut novel from which it is adapted, White Teeth lives up to everything that it
should be and more. White Teeth is a comic-by-turns story of two families, three
cultures and the changing face of modern Britain.
The first episode of the
four-part adaptation sees the men finding optimism in a life that has largely
flashed past their eyes without them in it. In three further episodes,
telescoping through the decades with the help of the era's music, the two
families will have children. It is this new generation's comic and dysfunctional
response to adulthood, their parents and identity that drives White Teeth.
Channel Four's adaptation lives
up to the book but arguably betters it. The screenplay captures the book's
grand scale and intimacy. But it also keeps up the pace where the novel began to
flag. Translated to the small screen it is fresh, energetic and
effortlessly played out by a great cast".

2001 - Far Too Happy - Cambridge Footlights 2001 tour
show (UK)
Cast: Ed Jaspers, Tim Key, Day
Macaskill, James Morris, Mark Watson, Sophie Winkleman. Directors: Phil
Breen, Owen Powell. Written by the cast and directors.
"This production introduces a
range of characters that, despite their hilarity, preserve a certain affinity
with the audience. The actors are talented individuals whose performance
is enhanced by the interaction of the cast as a whole. Sophie Winkleman
clearly displays her versatility as a talented actor and Jaspers gives a
priceless portrayal of a taxi driver.
The cast proves to be a winning
combination. The material is diverse and so will appeal to many. At
one moment the audience may find themselves laughing at a stereotypical
portrayal of modern life and then, later, the absurdity and lack of realism of
the script. Although, in parts, some people may find the unique material a
little strange and nonsensical, this aspect does, in fact, contribute to the
hilarious package produced by the intelligent writing, technical expertise and
talented delivery".

at life ... well written, well acted, and subtly funny" - Sam Taylor, The

"Thought-provokingly funny
... astute and macabre ... a real treat, so go." - Jane Denny, Cambridge Evening
News, 30th June 2001.
"Impeccably scripted ... a
play in its own right, and rather a good one" - Christopher Gray, The Oxford
Times, 22nd June 2001.
"This is the future. No straw
boaters. No stripey blazers. No fake beards. Footlights, despite your
preconceptions, are funny again." - Stefan Golaszewski, The Cambridge Student,
